An array of Penetron products was used in the construction of a modern maternity hospital in Georgia.
Striking architecture, vibrant colors and a unique trapezoidal shape distinguish the Gagau Clinic maternity hospital in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi. The 100-bed facility opened in February 2018 and features four surgical units, a cafeteria, pharmacy and administrative offices.
Designed by the award-winning firm of Tsutskiridze+Architects, the hospital has six floors, as well as two underground floors, including a parking garage. Along with its trapezoidal shape, the building presents a distinctly different façade on each of its three sides.
From the underground parking garage to the polished floors and interior columns, concrete was used extensively in the construction, and the PENETRON system of products proved essential:
-
PENETRON ADMIX to waterproof walls and basement slabs
-
PENEBAR SW waterstop to guarantee impermeability between construction joints
-
PENETRON, PENECRETE MORTAR and PENEPLUG to prevent ground waters from penetrating into the elevator shafts and basement, ensuring a dry and durable parking garage
"The Gagau Clinic maternity hospital will be seen as an architecturally dazzling site in Tbilisi for years to come. It’s a joy to know our Penetron products help provide a structurally sound place for families to welcome their babies," said Robert Revera, President and CEO of The Penetron Group and father of three.
