Cavernoso II (Copel)
Paraná State, Brazil
The Cavernoso II hydroelectric power plant was built by Bell Paranaensa Energy in Paraná state, just southwest of São Paulo. Located between the towns of Virmond and Candói, the plant has an installed capacity of 19 MW, an earth dam that is 540 m (1,772 feet) long and 18 m (60 feet) high. The reservoir covers an area of about 43 hectares (106 acres). There is also a 56 hectare (138 acres) natural preserve that is maintained as a watershed by COPEL (Companhia Paranaense de Energia).
The concrete joints in the reconstructed plant housing were sealed with PENEBAR SW-55 waterstop.
