Molodezhnaya Metro Station
Category: Transport, Tunnel
Like many underground systems built during the Soviet era, the stations of the Minsk Metro system were constructed with exquisite materials and often adorned with socialist-style reliefs. The Molodezhnaya Station was designed in a light-weight style that belies its underground location. Originally constructed with cast iron tunnel vaults, the surrounding high water table penetrated into the structures, which are now corroded and leaking.
PENEPLUG is a rapid-setting crystalline cementitious compound designed to stop active leaks, even under high hydrostatic pressure. PENEPLUG was applied to all leaks in the Molodezhnaya Station, successfully preventing any further water ingress.
