Grant Award Contest Rules 

  1. Grant Award Winners.  First, second and third-place grant award recipients will be selected based on the number of confirmed entries received from the public during the applicable 1 (one) week contest period. The project that receives the most entries will be awarded the first-place prize. The project that receives the second-most entries will be awarded the second-place prize. The project with the least amount of entries will be awarded the third-place prize. The grants awarded to the eligible projects is subject to the terms and conditions of EWB-USA’s 2018 grant award contract. If a winner cannot be contacted or is disqualified for any reason, Penetron and EWB-USA reserve the right to determine an alternate winner or not to award that winner’s prize, in their sole discretion.

  2. Voting. By participating in the voting portion of this contest, each voting participant agrees to be bound by the official contest rules. Each use of the Chapters hashtag given to them by Penetron will result in one vote/entry. The hashtag will only result in one vote per relevant post. The use of multiple hashtags in one post will not result in more than one vote.  If the Internet voting process fails to operate properly or appears to be tampered with or tainted with errors, fraud or unfair practices, Penetron and EWB-USA reserve the right to use another means, which in their sole discretion they find to be fair and reasonable, to determine the winner. 

  3. Sponsor. The Contest is sponsored by Penetron International, Ltd. (referenced as “Penetron” or “Sponsor” in the Contest Rules), in cooperation with Engineers Without Borders-USA.  As Sponsor, Penetron International, Ltd., assumes no liability whatsoever for any claims and/or loss resulting from participation in this contest, and assumes no continuing obligation to any contest participant following the grant award.

  4. Taxes. Each winner is solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes related to the prize(s) and paying any expenses associated with any prize that is not specifically provided for in the official rules.  Each winner must provide the Company with valid identification and a valid taxpayer identification number or social security number before any prize will be awarded.  Each winner shall receive an IRS form 1099 at the end of the calendar year and a copy of such form will be filed with the IRS.
