Penetron Crystalline Technology a Robust Brew for White Kremlin

Russia

The new high-end White Kremlin Brewery in Tatarstan, Russia, began rolling out authentic German beers in September 2018. PENETRON topical material was applied to ensure a durable waterproofing solution for the facility’s concrete tanks.

The White Kremlin Brewery is part of JSC Tatspirtprom, the largest distiller in Russia and the country’s leading vodka producer. The newly opened brewery is located in Chistopol, on the banks of the Kama River, in Tatarstan about 140 km east of Kazan.

The White Kremlin Brewery integrates a number of premium beer brands into the JSC Tatspirtprom company portfolio. In addition to the locally-brewed Red Bull, White Kremlin, Old Kazan, Zhigulevskoye and Kama brands, the new brewing facility will also produce premium German brands, such as König Ludwig Weissbier and Kaltenberg Spezial, under license from König Ludwig Schlossbrauerei Kaltenberg, a brewery in Upper Bavaria, Germany.

Topical Applications for Long-Lasting Waterproofing

In addition to basement structures, the construction site in Chistopol also added 16 new cisterns for the brewing facility. “These tanks are washed regularly with aggressive disinfectants,” explains Anatoliy Ermolayev, Director of Penetron Kazan. “This situation demanded a robust and long-lasting waterproofing solution.”

Construction of the new plant was carried out by Union Tree Plus, a well-known Russian construction company. Concrete used for the brewery’s below-grade concrete structures (and the tanks) was coated with an application of PENETRON crystalline material to ensure a durable and watertight concrete matrix, after PENECRETE MORTAR was inserted into any cracks evident in the structures. PENEBAR SW swellable waterstop strips were used to permanently seal the construction joints.

“We were able to supply all the Penetron materials for this project quickly, thanks to the recently opened Penetron mixing facility in Tatarstan,” adds Anatoliy Ermolayev.

Significantly Increasing Durability and Service Life

Penetron crystalline materials are surface-applied to both fresh and existing concrete structures – for protection, repair and renovation – to eliminate cracks, voids and fissures. Non-toxic, with no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), Penetron topical materials meet the highest environmental and safety standards, making it an ideal solution for the new brewery in Kazan.

"Mixed with water and applied with a brush, trowel or spray gun, PENETRON protects and waterproofs above-grade or below-grade structures – even under high hydrostatic pressure," concludes Anatoliy Ermolayev. “PENETRON will significantly increase the durability and service life of the concrete at White Kremlin.”
