The renovation of the railway tunnel lining focused on improved waterproofing and drainage systems to prevent water seepage and ensure long-term structural stability. Several challenges emerged that required changes to the original design and application of the necessary shotcrete layers.
Products Used
The use of PENETRON ADMIX SB brought key advantages. It provides waterproofing performance equivalent to two layers of rigid-sprayed waterproofing and self-seals microcracks. Construction is simplified, as shotcrete can be applied in thicker layers resulting in significant time savings by eliminating approximately 60 days from the construction schedule. Testing and validation confirmed that PENETRON ADMIX SB significantly improved the water resistance of shotcrete, even when used in relatively poor-quality concrete.
