Description
The €60 million reconstruction of the Iron Gate II navigation lock on the Serbian–Romanian border was one of the largest infrastructure projects on the Danube in recent decades, aimed at modernizing the facility and increasing navigation capacity. The technical specifications of the one-step navigation lock with a single chamber include a chamber length of about 310 m (1,023 ft) and a width of about 34 m (112 ft). Lift height ranges between 21-34 m (70-112 ft), depending on water levels in the Danube.
Products Used
The Penetron System (PENETRON, PENECRETE MORTAR, PENETRON INJECT, PENETRON GROUT) was used for the repair and reconstruction of the ship-lock walls (11,570 m3 / 15,130 yds3 of concrete), and the renovation of six engine rooms and control tower gondola.
