Bee Slough River Floodgate

Evansville, IN, USA

Description

The Bee Slough floodgate is a concrete-lined, uncovered ditch that runs 1.1 miles along Veterans Memorial Parkway. The $2.6 million floodgate project was designed to prevent water backflow from the Ohio River during high river events that can cause stagnant water issues. Construction included replacement of a tideflex valve and a new headwall structure with two flap gates.
