Penguin Exhibit

Sydney, Australia

Description

In less than two years and after $9 million in investments, the new home for King Penguins has opened at the Sydney Aquarium. The project’s major challenge was to build the exhibit within the existing premises to avoid impacting the overall operations of the center. All concrete within this enclosure is consistently covered with ‘man made’ snow, and the durability of the structure was a main priority.

Products Used

PENETRON ADMIX was used for approximately 300 m3 of concrete in the surrounding platforms and boat trough. Because of the construction peculiarities and a great number of construction joints throughout the shelter, approximately 300 m of PENEBAR SW-55 was also supplied. PENETRON crystalline technology helped to meet the construction deadline and avoid exceeding the budget.
